What should I study?

Using two of the most reliable assessments available, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Strong Interest Inventory, good match career pathways are identified.  Beginning at the end of the sophomore year of high school students are ready to begin talking about this important process.  The goal is to identify possible pathways and provide the student with suggestions for experiences, such as;  job shadow opportunities, extra curricular activities, sports, coursework, summer experiences and more to help them along the way towards determining a good match career.  In addition to getting a handle on a possible college major, the student is able to build a strong college application resume.

Recommended timeline:  second semester sophomore or beyond.  These assessments are an important tool for the college list building process because we can identify the major(s) a student is most interested in pursuing along with learning style, risk tolerance, extra curricular activities and more. Many school admissions and scholarship opportunities are determined based upon the major a student declares.

Interested in getting started on these assessments?  Complete the contact form and in the “comments and questions” field, let me know that you are interested in having your student complete the career inventories.  I will send you some information and the instructions to complete the assessments online at the student’s convenience.  Once the assessments are complete, I will send you an email to set up the follow up appointment (either in person or via skype/facetime).
